This is sew exciting

Explore themes of joy, inspiration, spirituality, healing, grief and peace at the biennial “Sacred Threads” art quilt exhibition at the Yachats Commons this Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 14 and 15.

The traveling show provides a venue for quilters who see their work as a connection to the sacred or as an expression of a spiritual journey. Organizers say the goal is to present art that resonates on both spiritual and personal levels while sharing stories that can be sources of strength.

Art quilting blends traditional techniques with contemporary approaches, often incorporating innovative construction methods and deeply personal subject matter.

According to the Art Quilt Association club definition, “An art quilt is an original exploration of a concept or idea rather than the handing down of a ‘pattern.’ It experiments with textile manipulation, color, texture and/or a diversity of mixed media.”

Some works in the exhibition may be available for purchase.

The show is presented by Polly Plumb Productions, a nonprofit that supports music, dance and visual arts in the region. The group will host another art quilt show, “Somebody Told Me… Communicating with Thread,” at the Commons on March 28 and 29.

“Sacred Threads” is open from 10 am to 4 pm on Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 14 and 15, at the Yachats Commons, located at 441 N Hwy. 101. A $5 donation is suggested. For more information, go to pollyplumbproductions.org.
