Symphony trio to play Valentine’s Day concert
Celebrate Valentine’s Day with romantic chamber music from the Newport Symphony Orchestra at the Pacific Maritime Heritage Center this Saturday, Feb. 14.
Performed on period instruments tuned to the A415 pitch common to the Baroque era, the concert features Alistair Kok on Baroque violin, Charmaine Leclair on Baroque cello and Diane Baxter on harpsichord.
Selections include “Les Barricades Mysterieuses” by Francois Couperin of France, “Cello Sonata #1” by Antonio Vivaldi of Italy and “Sonata #3” by Johann Sebastian Bach of Germany, ending with the playful neo-Baroque piece “Suite in Olde Style” by 20th-Century composer Alfred Schnittke.
Regular admission is $44 and $10 for students.
