Tech a look at some options
To encourage participation and support of career and technical education, Oregon Coast Community College and the Lincoln County School District will showcase the opportunities available through their programs at the college’s Central County Campus this Friday, Feb. 13.
The expo features student projects and art, live demonstrations, items for sale and information about training pathways available across Lincoln County.
School district programs on display include forestry and forest products, manufacturing, architecture and construction, restaurant food and beverage service, early childhood education, digital arts, photography and portfolio development, visual communication and health occupations.
Programs from Siletz Valley School will include woodshop and culinary arts.
College programs represented include nursing and allied health, welding, pre-apprenticeship for construction trades, early childhood education, aquarium science and the youth entrepreneurship program.
“The wide array of programs being offered locally helps to meet both student and industry demand,” said Career Connected Learning Navigator Becky York. “As educational institutions, we are striving to provide a qualified and educated workforce.”
Industry partners taking part include Georgia-Pacific, Central Lincoln PUD, Samaritan Health Services, Yakona Nature Preserve, Oregon Coast Aquarium, Newport Public Library, Lincoln City Parks & Recreation, Pacific Inside Electrical JATC and WorkSource Oregon among others.
