Sounds grate!
Though the name and location have been slightly altered, the purpose and popularity of the event remain intact.
The Central Coast Humane Society’s Spay-ghetti and No (Meat) Balls dinner, will take place at Faith Bible Church in Lincoln City this Saturday, April 25.
The funds raised at the dinner and silent auction go to help animals with services such as x-rays and blood work, and treatments for the litany of injuries that befall our beloved companions.
“We use the funds according to circumstance and need,” said Barbara Perry, former society president. “The animals are not at fault for having a blockage, or breathing problem, a broken leg or terrible flea infestation. We weigh that with the caregivers' situation. We don't often pay 100 percent, as we feel the caregiver needs to take some responsibility.”
Dinner consists of vegetarian spaghetti with a no-glucose option for noodles, warm garlic bread, a salad and dessert.
This year’s move to Faith Bible Church provides expanded seating and a larger parking area.
“It was a difficult decision to move venues,” Perry said, “as we have enjoyed working with the Eagles members who so graciously hosted this event for a number of years.”
The silent auction runs from 5 to 6:30 pm, followed by a raffle at 6:30 pm. Auction and raffle items include gift baskets, kites, jewelry, coupons, a fishing trip, a beach campfire experience, a new very tall cat tree, quilt, metal art, wine, a Gourmia food station and a Hoffsdatter leather bag adorned with paw prints.
The Central Coast Humane Society is an all-volunteer organization with no physical location. While it works closely with the Lincoln County Animal Shelter, it operates separately and is funded through grants, donations and fund-raisers.
Saturday’s event runs from 5 to 7 pm at Faith Bible Church, located at 5510 SE Hwy. 101 in Lincoln City. Tickets are $10 at the door, $25 for families and free for kids aged five and younger. For more information, go to centralcoasthumanesociety.com.
