See what-sip at Yachats festival
Shop, sip and celebrate the season at the Yachats Winter Festival, a two-day celebration filled with local artisans, cozy treats and seasonal decor in the heart of the town this Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 6 and 7.
The Holiday Vendor Fair will flow from the Yachats Commons and out to the surrounding grounds with handmade crafts, art, gifts and creative seasonal goods. Shoppers can browse booths throughout each day, offering a perfect chance to support local businesses while finding unique holiday treasures.
On Saturday afternoon, families can sip their way through town during the Hot Cocoa Trail, a sweet self-guided tour of participating shops and cafes serving creative cocoa concoctions and special treats. Maps will be available at the commons and at participating businesses.
As dusk settles over Yachats on Saturday, the town will gather for one of its most cherished traditions, the Tree Lighting Celebration. The community will join together to light up the town tree, marking the start of the holiday season on the coast.
Throughout the weekend guests will also find wreath-making workshops and other family-friendly activities across town.
“The Winter Festival is all about connection, bringing neighbors and visitors together to celebrate the season, shop local and enjoy the simple magic of Yachats in winter,” said Nichole Lippincott, executive director of the Yachats Area Chamber of Commerce. “It’s a special time to slow down, enjoy a warm drink and take in the beauty of our coastal community.”
To support local holiday shopping, guests at the fair will receive a coupon good for 10 percent off at participating Yachats businesses throughout December.
The weekend also marks the inaugural rides on the new Yachats trolley, a vintage-style vehicle with modern amenities such as a bike rack and wheelchair lift, that will run during Saturday’s Hot Cocoa Trail.
This weekend’s festival runs from 10 am to 4 pm on Saturday, and 10 am to 3 pm on Sunday at the Yachats Commons, located at 441 Hwy. 101 in Yachats. For more information, go to Yachats.org.
