Run, run as fast as you can
Twin Rocks Friends Camp will host its second annual Gingerbread House Party this Saturday, Dec. 6, offering a crumb-licious day of holiday fun for families from across the North Oregon Coast.
The celebration fills the Rockaway Beach campus with activities, music and plenty of festive treats.
“Last year we had 400 guests, and it was a wonderful event that brought the community together,” said Development Director Liz Seume. “So, we wanted to recreate it and build on that energy. This year we’ve expanded our stained-glass painting activity, added ornament making, are hosting a modern-day nativity play and even have a snow globe photo opportunity.”
Guests can enjoy several no-cost activities, including the stained-glass art project, ornament making, cocoa and popcorn and story time with Mrs. Claus. Santa will also be available for photos with a professional portrait photographer and families will receive their images through a free digital link.
“We’re providing families with a joyful Christmas event where they can spend time together in an interactive environment,” Seume said.
Families can also reserve space in fee-based activities such as wreath-making, gingerbread-house decorating and overnight stays on campus. The gingerbread houses are made with real ingredients — molasses, ginger and seasonal spices — and cost $15. The wreath-making class is $20, with all supplies and cleanup included.
The Undertow, the camp’s on-site coffee shop, will be open with espresso drinks available for purchase, and German-themed concessions such as bratwurst and pretzels will be served in the dining hall.
“This is a chance for families to interact together and focus on the joy of the season,” Seume said.
Saturday’s event runs from 10 am to 4 pm at Twin Rocks Friends Camp and Conference Center, located at 18705 Hwy. 101 in Rockaway Beach. Admission is free, though an RSVP is requested to attend and required for fee-based activities. Payment will be collected at the event. For more information, go to twinrocks.org.
