Explore the rich winter birdlife of Siletz Bay with Seven Capes Bird Alliance this Friday, Dec. 5, as birders of all abilities gather for a relaxed morning of coastal wildlife watching on the Taft waterfront.

This easy winter excursion showcases the remarkable variety of species that rest and feed along the bay this time of year.

Siletz Bay serves as winter habitat for thousands of waterfowl, including northern pintails, green-winged teals, American wigeons and the occasional Eurasian wigeon. Bald eagles often put on a show, and great blue herons and great egrets are regulars along the shoreline. The walk begins with viewing from the Taft dock and might continue south along the bay, ending at the Salishan Nature Trail if time allows.

All Seven Capes Bird Alliance walks are free, family-friendly, easy to moderately easy and no pre-registration or experience is required. Binoculars and guidebooks are provided. Walks are held rain or shine; dress appropriately for coastal weather and muddy trails. Friday’s bird walk begins at 9 am at the Taft Waterfront parking lot in Lincoln City.
