Pictures from the past

Explore a century of coastal history as Jim Affolter presents “Neskowin: A Book of Found Photos 1880-1980” at the North Lincoln County Historical Museum in Lincoln City this Saturday, Dec. 13.

Affolter will share the story behind this impressive community-driven project, which pieces together a visual history of Neskowin through generations of family albums and donated snapshots.

During his talk, Affolter will explain how the project began, the surprising discoveries it revealed and the ways everyday photographs can reshape our understanding of place. He will also discuss the collaborative process behind assembling the book and what it means for preserving coastal heritage. A question-and-answer session will follow, and books will be available for purchase directly from the Neskowin Historical Foundation.

Saturday’s program begins at 1 pm and continues until 2:30 pm at the North Lincoln County Historical Museum, located at 4907 SW Hwy. 101 in Lincoln City. For more information, go to nlchm.org or call 541-996-6614.
