Put this one in the wind column

Don’t blow your chance to enjoy bright music and holiday warmth as the Pacific Coast Wind Ensemble presents “Sounds of the Season” at the Yachats Commons this Saturday, Dec. 13.

Formed in 2002 when the Lincoln County Community Band and Florence Community Concert Band joined forces, the ensemble now includes roughly 40 volunteer musicians from Lincoln City to Florence and as far east as Eugene. The group features retired professional players, local music teachers and community members who simply love to play.

The ensemble is led by Dr. Ernie Hills, former director of the School of Music at California State University Sacramento. Since 2024, the group has made strong strides under his direction, building both musical depth and community connection.

Guests attending “Sounds of the Season” can expect a relaxed and joyful afternoon, with refreshments served during intermission. Admission is free, making this a perfect family-friendly way to enjoy live holiday music.

Saturday’s concert begins at 2 pm at the Yachats Commons, located at 441 N Hwy.101. For more information, go to pcwindensemble.org.
