Fall into birding with Seven Capes Bird Alliance, offering outings at two locations that promise great bird watching during the fall migration this Friday, Oct. 10, and Saturday, Oct. 11.
Friday, Oct. 10
Lincoln City Wastewater Treatment Plant
Unlikely as it seems, water treatment plants are prime habitat for migrating waterfowl and shorebirds.
As parking is limited, the group will meet at 9 am at the Taft Waterfront near Mo’s and carpool to the site.
Saturday, Oct. 11
Boiler Bay to Devil’s Punchbowl
A driving tour of prime rocky habitats for excellent seabird watching and possible glimpses at shorebirds. Starting at Boiler Bay Scenic Viewpoint, the walk will include stops at Depoe Bay and Otter Crest loop to explore the new Cape Foulweather Marine Conservation Area, Marine Garden and Marine Reserves. Learn more about protected nearshore habitats and the birds and other wildlife that depend on them.
The group will meet at 9 am in the Boiler Bay State Scenic Viewpoint parking lot.
All Seven Capes Bird Alliance walks are free, family-friendly, easy to moderately easy and no pre-registration or experience is required. Binoculars and guidebooks are provided. Walks are held rain or shine; dress appropriately for coastal weather and muddy trails. For more information, go to sevencapes.org.
