WindSync blows into Neskowin
Treat Mom to an afternoon of world-class music when Nestucca Valley Presbyterian Church hosts a special Neskowin Chamber Music Mother’s Day concert this Sunday, May 10.
The featured ensemble is WindSync, known for bold programming and an engaging stage presence. The group has performed at leading venues including Carnegie Hall, the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Library of Congress, along with major chamber music festivals across the country.
WindSync has also built an international reputation through tours in China, Taiwan, Panama, Mexico and Canada. The ensemble is committed to expanding the wind quintet repertoire, commissioning works by established and emerging composers. Its 2024 album “WindSync Plays Miguel del Aguila,” recorded at Abbey Road Studios, debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Classical charts.
Founded at Rice University in 2009, the group launched its professional career after winning the Concert Artists Guild Victor Elmaleh Competition in 2012, followed by additional top honors at the Fischoff Competition and the M-Prize.
The quintet’s members are Garrett Hudson, Noah Kay, Graeme Steele Johnson, Anni Hochhalter and Kara LaMoure, based in New York City, San Francisco and Houston.
Sunday’s concert begins at 3 pm at Nestucca Valley Presbyterian Church, located at 5195 Winema Road in Cloverdale. Treats will be available for mothers attending the performance. For more information, go to neskowinchambermusic.org.
