Veg-ucate yourself

Learn how to grow your own vegetables from seed during Grow Your Own, an upcoming series of free classes taught by the Master Gardeners of Lincoln County. Five classes will be offered between January and August, beginning with a kickoff session focused on understanding seed catalogs and seed packets this Friday, Jan. 31, in Waldport.

The introductory class, “Understanding Seed Catalogs and Seed Packets,” is designed for gardeners of all experience levels and will be offered at three demonstration garden locations. Classes are free and open to all, with advance registration requested.

Class dates and locations:

• Friday, Jan. 31, Waldport Demonstration Garden on the Oregon Coast Community College campus, 3120 SE High School Drive, Waldport

• Thursday, Feb. 6, South Beach Demonstration Garden on the Oregon Coast Community College campus, 400 SE College Way, Newport

• Wednesday, Feb. 12, Lincoln City Demonstration Garden on the Oregon Coast Community College campus, 3788 SE High School Drive, Lincoln City

Friday’s class in Waldport runs from noon to 1:30 pm. The Thursday, Feb. 6, class in South Beach runs from 3:30 to 4:30 pm and the Wednesday, Feb. 12, class in Lincoln City runs from 6 to 7:30 pm. For more information or to preregister, go to orcoastmga.org.
