To get a great gig, you have to planet
Celebrate Earth Day with music and movement when JaSkaMon performs at the Lincoln City Cultural Center this Saturday, April 18.
Blending ska, reggae and global pop, the Northwest-based group brings a high-energy sound that highlights music’s ability to inspire connection and care for the planet.
Led by singer-songwriter and guitarist Barry Klusman, JaSkaMon — short for “spirit, music, humanity” — has built a following since forming in 2013 with catchy original songs, vibrant covers and rhythm-driven performances that get guests on their feet. Their sound mixes American pop with Caribbean influences, featuring rich vocal harmonies and dynamic guitar, keyboard and horn arrangements.
The band’s music often explores themes of environmental awareness and human connection, making it a natural fit for an Earth Day celebration. Songs such as “Save Your Land” emphasize stewardship and shared responsibility, delivered through upbeat, danceable rhythms.
JaSkaMon has released nine albums, including “Sword and Plow,” “All The People,” “Spirit, Music, Humanity” and “Salutations.”
Saturday’s concert begins at 7 pm at the Lincoln City Cultural Center, located at 540 NE Hwy. 101. Tickets are $15. For more information, go to lincolncity-culturalcenter.org.
