The Best of the Fest
The Lincoln City Summer Art Festival will serve up two days of local art, music and food this Friday, Aug. 1, and Saturday, Aug. 2.
“It is exciting to see the creativity our area has to offer,” said event organizer Shelley Shandra. “These artists are so talented and show their work in galleries, festivals and events across the Pacific Northwest.”
Taking place in the Lincoln City Cultural Center, this year’s festival features original and creative works created by 60 Pacific Northwest artists. Returning favorites include award-winning chainsaw artist James Lukinich and bakery treats from sponsor SeaGals of Lincoln City.
Collectors and shoppers will find unique and original pieces of fused glass, stained glass, pottery, sculpture, fiber art, acrylic, oil and watercolor art, metal art, driftwood art, jewelry, photography and much more.
Throughout the festival, live music will ring out from stages around the Cultural Center Plaza. “Guitar” Bobby Wentz and Sons will play original tunes from noon to 2 pm on Friday. Then, from 3 to 5:30 pm, EZ Eddy and the Jumpers will rock the house with a wide range of blues from straight-up Chicago style to the swampy blues of Louisiana or the funky groove of east LA.
On Saturday, local guitar teacher Richard Paris will perform favorite hits from 10 am to noon. Johnny Wheels and the Swamp Donkeys will round out the music offerings with feel-good music from 1 to 3 pm.
New to the Festival this year are yummy food options from food trucks to baked goods. The Food Court includes Canales Tacos of Lincoln City serving authentic Mexican food; Oregon Fishmongers of Waldport serving fresh catch fish; Dawg Gone Burgers; Bigfoot Fry Bread; and Crepealicious. Festival favorites add the sweet touch with kettle corn, shaved ice and cotton candy booths.
And don’t forget the delicious selection of baked treats from local SeaGals of Lincoln City, with all proceeds benefiting the Lincoln City Eagles Christmas Basket Fund.
The festival will conclude at 3:30 pm on Saturday afternoon with a raffle drawing of a chainsaw carving donated by James Lukinich.
The festival runs from 11 am to 6 pm on Friday, Aug. 1, and 10 am to 4 pm on Saturday, Aug. 2, at the Lincoln City Cultural Center, 540 NE Hwy. 101.
