Sea what you can make

Coastal creators have a new space at Sea Street Craft

Central Coast locals and visitors, get ready to be inspired. Depoe Bay just got a big creative upgrade with the opening of Sea Street Craft, a vibrant, community-focused haven for artisans, upcyclers and anyone seeking high-quality supplies and a cozy creative refuge. Forget driving long distances to big cities or waiting for an order to arrive; this beautiful, welcoming new shop is a triple threat, instantly becoming the area's essential hub for all things creative. It offers a much-needed creative retreat, a comprehensive supply depot and a haven for sustainable upcycling.

Owner Christa Holmes envisions the space as a personal crafting retreat for the community. "We invite people to craft, create and upcycle here, taking what you already have and making it into something new," said Holmes, emphasizing a core belief: "People, planet, then profit."

Whether you’re a seasoned artisan or just starting, Sea Street Craft is fully stocked to fuel your next project. It fills the void left by big chain closures, offering high-quality essentials previously only available in the Valley.

Yarn lovers can indulge in the softest mohair, wool and silk yarns. Painters will find perfect pigments, canvases and brushes for large and small projects. Quilters can browse for essential notions, quilting cotton on the bolt and fat quarters, in a wide variety of colors and patterns.

Upcyclers and DIYers will discover the versatile Fusion furniture paint that sticks to even the slickest surfaces and Iron Orchid Designs furniture transfers for a completely customized refurbish.

Beyond the basics, the shelves are brimming with local charm, from handmade sea glass art and nautically themed stickers to decoupaged oyster shells and unique, award-winning quilts.   Need a custom touch? They offer custom printing and sublimation services.

One of the most unique offerings is the shop's commitment to upcycling. You can find beautiful, quality wood furniture and art upgraded with new finishes, perfect for adding a touch of history to your home.

"Take your grandma's dresser that might not be your style,” Holmes said, “paint it a different color and add beautiful hardware, and now you've got something special made from better materials than you could buy new.”

Got supplies to spare? The shop accepts community donations, rehoming bolts of fabric, paper and coastal crafting supplies.

"Everything is a craft supply unless proven otherwise," Holmes said.

Local artists are also invited to consign their finished pieces, creating a positive, self-perpetuating engine for the local economy.

More than just a store, Sea Street Craft is a creative sanctuary. Settle in on the welcoming couches with official greeting pups Cascadia and Rainiera or belly up to the craft bar and enjoy the camaraderie of other local crafters.

Stitch up a storm with fellow knitters on Saturdays, create custom cards with other paper crafting enthusiasts on Paper Crafting Thursdays, or sign up for sessions throughout the week to experience sustainable coastal crafting.

While classes are popular midday, the shop is eager to host an evening crowd. Book a private crafting party and you can stay later and bring your own bottle and refreshments for a fun night out with friends.

"After spending time with us, so many of our patrons say, 'You have no idea how much I needed this,'” Holmes said. This is your creative refuge.

Sea Street Craft is located at 272 S Hwy. 101 in Depoe Bay and is open Thursday through Monday from 10 am to 6 pm. For more information, go to seastreetcraft.com.
