The Seven Capes Bird Alliance will welcome spring migrants on a pair of guided bird walks in Lincoln City and Tillamook this Friday and Saturday, April 10 and 11.
Friday’s outing will explore The Knoll Open Space and Roads End State Park in Lincoln City, where a mix of habitats offers opportunities to spot late winter songbirds alongside early arrivals such as warblers. The walk will pass wetlands near Sal La Sea in search of species including Virginia rail and black phoebe before continuing to the beach to look for nearshore birds.
The group will meet at 9 am on NE Devils Lake Boulevard past the golf course.
Saturday’s walk heads to the Tillamook Bay wetlands at Goodspeed Road, where restored habitat provides excellent viewing for early migrants, lingering winter birds and waterfowl. Birders might spot swallows, raptors such as red-tailed and red-shouldered hawks and bald eagles and, with luck, species like white-tailed kite or northern harrier.
The group will meet at 9 am at the parking area about three-quarters of a mile from Highway101 on Goodspeed Road.
