Life without plants is a real drag

If you think taking care of houseplants is a drag, maybe joining Out in L.C. for Drag Bingo: Houseplants & High Heels at the Lincoln City Cultural Center this Saturday, Aug. 29, will change your attitude.

Hosted by Seattle performer Sativa the Queen, the 21-and-over event features five rounds of bingo, a drag performance, raffle prizes and a chance to browse local vendors offering handmade goods, plant-themed items and other unique products before the show.

Every ticket includes admission to all five bingo games, one raffle ticket and a houseplant to take home. Guests will also have opportunities to win botanical-themed prize baskets filled with houseplants, books and other items donated by local businesses.

"One of Out in L.C.'s goals is to create opportunities for LGBTQ+ community members, allies and visitors to connect in welcoming spaces throughout the year," said Chair Tawni Ferguson. "Whether you're coming for the bingo, the drag performance, the plants or simply a night out with friends, we hope everyone leaves smiling and with a new plant in hand."

Founded to foster inclusivity and celebrate queer culture on the Oregon Coast, Out in L.C. organizes events and partnerships throughout the year designed to create welcoming spaces where community members and allies can gather and connect.

Saturday's event begins with doors opening at 5:30 pm, followed by bingo and entertainment at 6:15 pm. The Lincoln City Cultural Center is located at 540 NE Hwy. 101. Tickets are $22. For tickets and more information, go to lincolncity-culturalcenter.org.
