From Hawai’i with Love

Prepare for a night of revolutionary music and soul-stirring messages when internationally acclaimed reggae artist Mike Love performs at the Beach Club in Lincoln City on Thursday, Aug. 21.

Love’s unique sound draws from a wide array of influences — from soul, blues and rock, to jazz and flamenco — all delivered through a spiritually centered and healing approach.

Famous for his mesmerizing solo performances, Love uses live looping, multi-instrumental layering and a stunning vocal range to create a full-band experience from the stage.

Fans often leave live performances remarking about how they have just been to church or had a bad day turned around.

Born and raised on the island of O'ahu, Hawai'i, Love was brought up in an environment surrounded by musical influence and the inspiring natural landscape of his island home.  Forging a deep connection with nature, his message of returning to a more natural and spiritually grounded way of living was solidified at an early age. Growing up under the musical guidance of his father and grandfather, both composers, as well as his steel pan instructor Frank Leto and piano teacher Beth Uale, his natural musical instincts towards melody and harmony were shaped and deepened.

Love started playing the guitar at the age of 15 and played in multiple bands throughout his teenage years, playing his first live gig with a band at 16.

He has built a global fanbase, performing at major festivals including Electric Forest, Byron Bay Bluesfest and California Roots. He has shared the stage with artists such as Michael Franti, Jack Johnson and Steel Pulse.

With ever-evolving live performances, Love keeps his organically grown fanbase returning to witness the evolution of tried-and-true fan favorites and the ever-expanding repertoire of new music that is constantly surfacing.

This Lincoln City appearance offers fans a rare chance to experience one of modern reggae’s most passionate voices in an intimate coastal setting.

The concert begins at 7 pm at the Beach Club, located at 2020 NE 22nd Street in Lincoln City. Tickets are $20 in advance, $23 day of show. For tickets, go to mikelovesolo.brownpapertickets.com.
