Connection as Conservation
Join the MidCoast Watersheds Council at Newport’s Pacific Maritime Heritage Center on Thursday, Aug. 7, for a conversation with Cape Perpetua Collaborative Executive Director Talaina King. Learn how the collaborative connects people to the land, sea and one another through education, science, storytelling and shared stewardship. This talk will highlight real stories from the field, the partnerships behind the work and how you can get involved in protecting and celebrating Cape Perpetua.
King first joined the collaborative in 2024 as a board member and soon after transitioned to being hired as its first director. She is Pacific Northwest born and raised and has a deep connection to this special place. She has a background in communications and sociology and enjoys investing her time connecting people to resources for growth and community support, and creating resources for people to gather over shared interests.
She lives in Newport with her hound dog Watson.
The Aug. 7 presentation begins at 6:30 pm at the Pacific Maritime Heritage Center, located at 333 SE Bay Blvd. in Newport. For more information, go to midcoastwatersheds.org.
