Comb and have fun
Parades, slug races, live music and strawberry shortcake return to the coast when Waldport’s Beachcomber Festival celebrates three days of family fun this Friday, June 19, through Sunday, June 21.
Features of the longtime community festival range from a kids’ parade and vendor market to live entertainment, bounce zones and the return of the hilarious bed races.
Festivities begin Friday with a proclamation by Grand Marshal Donna McCrea in front of Waldport City Hall followed by the Kids’ Parade at Louis Southworth Park. Evening events include live music from Buzz Kill at the Moose Lodge stage, a sponsor dinner and crowning of the court at La Baia and an outdoor movie night projected on the gym wall at Louis Southworth Park.
Saturday brings a full day of activities, including a car show at 1st Security Bank, a vendor market in the community parking lot and strawberry shortcake at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church. The Beachcomber Parade rolls through town at noon, followed by kid zones, bounce activities, slug races and live music throughout the afternoon and evening. Entertainment on the main stage includes Weird Science, Strange Brew Band and Tipsy Chicks, with fire dancers closing out the night.
Sunday’s schedule features a pancake breakfast at the Moose Lodge, more vendor shopping, raffle drawings, kid zone activities and the bed races at Café Chill.
This weekend’s festival begins Friday at 2:45 pm and continues through Sunday at 3 pm throughout Waldport. For more information, schedules and updates, go to findyourselfinwaldport.com.
