Surf City Classic Car Show rolls back in to Lincoln City

Chinook Winds Casino Resort will become a showcase for chrome, horsepower and high-performance sound systems when the annual Surf City Classic Car Show and Sound Off rolls into Lincoln City this Saturday, Aug. 22, and Sunday, Aug. 23.

The family-friendly weekend brings together classic cars, trucks, motorcycles, imports, four-wheel drives and custom vehicles from throughout the region, giving visitors the chance to admire everything from meticulously restored vintage cruisers to modern muscle machines. Vehicle owners will compete for awards in a variety of classes, including Best of Show.

Adding another layer to the weekend is the Surf City Sound Off, where competitors put their custom car audio systems to the test. Saturday is devoted to Sound Quality Competition and Installation Quality Competition judging, where entries are evaluated not by volume alone but by the clarity, balance and overall performance of their audio systems. Sunday shifts the focus to Sound Pressure Level competitions, with competitors pushing their vehicles to produce extraordinary sound levels in a variety of contest formats.

The weekend also includes automotive vendors, food, live music and opportunities to meet fellow enthusiasts. The HellCats will perform Saturday from 11:30 am to 3 pm while judges evaluate entries throughout the afternoon.

Participants can register cars, trucks and motorcycles for $20, with each entry including one competition category, a commemorative T-shirt and $5 in free slot play. Half of every registration fee benefits Angels Anonymous, a Lincoln City nonprofit that provides emergency assistance to local residents facing immediate needs.

Last year's event raised more than $20,000 for the organization, and organizers hope this year's show will generate even more support for the community.

Saturday’s schedule begins with vehicle registration from 8 to 11 am, followed by public viewing from 10 am to 4 pm, judging from noon to 3 pm and awards at 4 pm. Sunday's Sound Off registration runs from 8 to 10 am, with judging beginning at 8 am and awards presented immediately afterward.

Chinook Winds Casino Resort is located at 1777 NW 44th Street in Lincoln City. For more information, go to chinookwinds.com or call 541-996-5825.
