A pair of priceless classical concerts
To help celebrate 30 years of bringing excellent musicians and performances to the Central Coast, Neskowin Chamber Music will present two free concerts leading up to its next season.
The concerts will be held at the Lincoln City Cultural Center, beginning this Sunday, Oct. 5, with The Florestan Trio and ending Saturday, Nov. 15, with the Thunder Egg Consort.
The Florestan Trio has an international reputation and has been described in the Oregonian as “one of Oregon’s musical treasures.” The group has performed in Europe, Japan and throughout the United States. The program will include “Passacaglia for Violin and Cello” by Handel/Halvorsen, “Trio in Eb Major, op.1, no.1” by Beethoven and “Trio in D minor, op. 49” by Mendelssohn.
The four members of the Thunder Egg Consort are world-famous string players, playing everything from classical to bluegrass. For the upcoming concert, three of the four will perform alongside their kids, aged 11 to 15.
The adults will play classical trios and duos, the mixed group the “Quartissimos” will play music from Beethoven and “Frozen,” and violist and composer Kenji Bunch and his son will play bluegrass.
Both the October 5 and November 15 shows begin at 3 pm at the Lincoln City Cultural Center, located at 540 NE Hwy. 101.
The regular Neskowin Chamber Music season, with six concerts held at Neskowin’s Winema Christian Camp, will begin on Sunday, Oct 26, with Jessica Tong on violin and Michael Sheppard on piano.
Audiences can expect a season rich with musical diversity, from beloved masterworks to innovative contemporary.
