Wax gets the seal of approval
Newport has become a hotspot for quality burlesque shows in the past decade, with both local and visiting troupes bringing bold and colorful entertainment to the Central Coast.
This Saturday, June 6, Eugene’s Wax Poetry Revue will bring a show of original and surreal performance to the Primaltones Community Venue with the travelling show, “Midnight Menagerie.”
Produced by Bettreena Jaeger, aka Peaches Von Killingsworth, the revue is a collective of visual and conceptual performance artists known for avant-garde burlesque and underground variety shows blending dance, storytelling, acrobatics and experimental theater.
“Midnight Menagerie” explores the changing seasons and the contrast between darkness and light, with performers embodying plants, animals and the atmosphere of summer nights and bright coastal days. The production features dancers, contortionists, acrobats and performance artists in an immersive evening of movement and visual spectacle.
Raffle prizes will be offered throughout the night. Guests are encouraged to bring cash tips for performers.
Saturday’s event begins at 8:30 pm at Primaltones, located at 2925 SE Ferry Slip Road in Newport. Admission is for guests aged 21 and older. Tickets are $35 for general admission and $45 for VIP seating. For more information, go to primaltones.com.
