Terry Robb brings blues to Nehalem
He might be just one man, but he has the performance ability and musical experience of an entire band. Experience Pacific Northwest blues guitarist Terry Robb when he brings his solo act to Nehalem’s North County Recreation District Performing Arts Center this Saturday, March 28.
Well-known to regional audiences, Robb has spent decades building a reputation as a top-tier acoustic blues artist with international recognition. The Vancouver-born, Portland-based musician won the Muddy Award for Best Acoustic Guitar so many times that the Cascade Blues Association permanently named the award in his honor.
An inductee in the Oregon Music Hall of Fame, Robb has earned praise from Rolling Stone, Acoustic Guitar, DownBeat, Guitar Player, Vintage Guitar, Living Blues and O, The Oprah Magazine. Known for his skill as a finger-picker, singer, songwriter, arranger and producer, he has toured with artists including Buddy Guy, Steve Miller, Robin Trower and John Fahey, appeared on “Late Night with Conan O’Brien,” performed at Portland Trail Blazers games and collaborated with the Oregon Symphony. Throughout his career, he has released 15 albums and developed a mastery of a wide range of blues styles and techniques.
His latest album, “Howlin’ Waters” continues that legacy, showcasing his fingerpicking style across 13 tracks that draw from blues while incorporating elements of ragtime, jazz, folk, Americana and rock. Robb’s approach reflects deep roots in traditional blues guitar, influenced by artists such as Blind Blake and Reverend Gary Davis, as well as his work with John Fahey.
Saturday’s concert begins at 7:30 pm at the North County Recreation District Performing Arts Center, located at 36155 9th Street in Nehalem. Tickets are $15 in advance or $20 at the door. For more information or to purchase tickets, go to ncrd.org/performing-arts-center.
