Summer sizzle in Lincoln City

Chinook Winds Casino Resort will once again serve up a winning combination of bacon, craft beverages and community spirit when the 11th annual Beach, Bacon and Brewfest returns this Saturday, July 11.

The popular event has become a summertime tradition in Lincoln City, bringing together local charities, craft beverage makers and music fans for a day of tasting, fund-raising and friendly competition. Working in partnership with the Lincoln City Chamber of Commerce, the festival raises awareness and support for a variety of local nonprofit organizations while giving guests plenty of opportunities to sample creative food and drink offerings.

More than a dozen breweries and cider makers will pour samples throughout the day, with returning favorites including Pelican, Ninkasi, Fort George, Breakside, Wild Ride, Blake's Hard Cider, Monkless, Arch Rock, Bend Cider, Deluxe Brewing, Bauman's Cider and Geloso. Brewers will be showcasing a variety of beers and ciders, giving guests the chance to sample both familiar favorites and new flavors.

The heart of the festival is the bacon competition, where local organizations create bite-sized dishes in hopes of earning People's Choice and Judges’ Choice honors. This year's competitors include Friends of Lincoln City Parks and Recreation, Kiwanis Club Lincoln City, Lincoln City Elks, Oceana Family Literacy, Oregon Coast Bank, Oregon State Credit Union, Salmon River Grange, Taft Tiger Boosters, Figz Dog Rescue, Salvation Army, Lincoln City Playhouse and the United Way. While bacon is the featured ingredient, vegetarian options will also be available.

Live music throughout the day comes from Tsunami Zone and Huckle Buck Highway, adding to the festival atmosphere.

Saturday's Beach, Bacon and Brewfest begins at noon at Chinook Winds Casino Resort, located at 1777 NW 44th Street in Lincoln City. Admission is $30 and includes beer tastings, five charity food tastings, $5 in slot play and live entertainment. Designated driver tickets are available for $20. This is a 21-and-older event.
