Seek out strange, nude worlds at ‘Space Oddity’
Land your flying saucer in Newport and head to Primaltones Community Venue for a sci-fi-inspired burlesque show this Saturday, Oct. 25.
“A Space Oddity” is a full-length show with striptease, burlesque, “boylesque,” comedy, surprises, beautiful costumes, glamour and group numbers. You will see astronauts, aliens. dark villains, far-out freaks, Martians and monsters.
And it’s Halloween week, so dress to impress and compete for the door prizes for best and worst costumes.
The show is produced by Passion Flower Fitness, Americana Mayhem Entertainment and Primaltones Community Venue, under the artistic direction of local starlet Dixie DeLish.
Joining Dixie in the show will be burlesque superstar Abbey Go-Lightly from Portland and local artists including Femme Bots Fantatique Breezie Betty, Lolli and Babino, Opal Essence and Scarlet Vendetta. The evening's boylesque performers will be Lucky J from Kingston, New York and Newport’s own Forest Humps. And the always entertaining Molotov will be master of ceremonies.
There will also be a raffle for “mostly valuable” prizes.
Primaltones Community Venue has a cozy environment and underground vibe, with an outdoor social area with a gas fire pit.
The bar offers a variety of local microbrews, cider, wine, prosecco and hard seltzer options. Non-alcoholic beverages options include Kombucha on tap.
The show runs for a little over two hours with one 15-minute intermission.
Saturday’s age 21-and-over show begins at 8:30 pm at Primaltones Community Venue, located at 2925 SE Ferry Slip Road in Newport. General admission tickets are $35. For more information, go to primaltones.com.
