Kick off your summer weekend on a pleasant bird-watching stroll with the Seven Capes Bird Alliance on the Alder Island Loop Trail this Saturday, Aug. 9.
The easy one-mile trail loop in the middle of Siletz Bay National Wildlife Refuge weaves through riparian and wetland habitat along the Siletz River, highlighted by interpretive signage. Sightings could include resident and migratory songbirds, great blue herons and an osprey nest with its growing chick.
The group will meet at 9 am in the Alder Island trail parking lot just south of the Siletz River bridge. Parking is limited, so please carpool if possible.
All Seven Capes Bird Alliance walks are free, family-friendly, easy to moderately easy and no pre-registration or experience is required. Binoculars and guidebooks are provided. Walks are held rain or shine; dress appropriately for coastal weather and muddy trails.
