Look sharp for the PushPin Show
One of Lincoln County’s most enduring and accessible community art traditions, the PushPin Show, will return for its 35th year this Saturday, Dec. 7, at the Newport Visual Arts Center.
An opening reception will be held from 2 to 4 pm on Saturday, featuring music, light refreshments and the chance for guests to cast their vote for the always-popular People’s Choice Award. Voting continues through December 14.
A showcase of creative talent from across Lincoln County, The PushPin Show brings together local artists of all disciplines and the wider community. Artists of all ages and experience levels are encouraged to take part — from beginners and emerging creators to established professionals, craftspersons, poets, literary artists and hobbyists.
“The Visual Arts Center belongs to the community, and The Pushpin Show is an awesome display of the creative energy that is alive and well within Lincoln County,” said Chasse Davidson, director of the center. “At this show, we celebrate all skill levels and all ages coming together under one roof to marvel at what can be held with four pushpins or less. You never know what you might see at show, and the reception will surely be a sweet affair!”
Submitted work must be original and human-made, with no AI-generated pieces allowed. While facsimiles and prints of original artwork will not be accepted, photographs and digital art prints created by hand are eligible. Participants must be able to hang their work with no more than four pushpins, and three-dimensional pieces must have a base no larger than six by six inches. Most artists will hang their own single work. Because the show is designed for all ages, artwork must be family-friendly. All submissions must be available for sale, with artists receiving a commission on sold work and the remainder supporting center exhibits and programming.
Artists wishing to participate should deliver their work to the Runyan Gallery at the Newport Visual Arts Center between noon and 4 pm on Friday, Dec. 5, or Saturday, Dec. 6.
The PushPin Show runs through January 4, available to view at the Newport Visual Arts Center located at 777 NW Beach Drive and open from noon to 4 pm Wednesday through Sunday. For more information, go to coastarts.com or call 541-265-2787.
