Library of Sings

Whether it’s tools to help you live a more full life or putting on a fun open-air concert, the Newport Public Library is helping make summer fun with the new Library of Things Collection and the next music series performance from the CoastalAires and Sweet Adelines on Thursday, July 31.

Library of Things

This new collection gives the community access to a wide range of non-traditional items for learning, recreation and discovery.

The collection includes unique items such as hiking sticks, mobile hotspots, board games, ukuleles, gardening tools, cooking pans, a telescope, microscope, sewing machine, portable DVD players and much more.

The new items expand beyond the library’s traditional books and media, giving patrons the chance to borrow tools and equipment they might not otherwise have access to.

“We are thrilled to offer these exciting new resources to the community,” said Library and City Community Engagement Director Laura Kimberly. “We look forward to expanding the collection as we go, and we hope the Library of Things will inspire exploration and creativity in our patrons.”

Those age 18 and older with a valid Newport Public Library card can check out items

at the circulation desk. Items can be borrowed for two weeks, with no overdue fines – though late returns or damaged items will incur a replacement cost.

Newport Public Library Music Series
