It’s bat-on in Newport
The Newport Middle School gymnasium will fill with patriotic music this Saturday, July 4, when the Newport Symphony Orchestra presents its annual free Independence Day community concert.
Led by music director Adam Flatt, the orchestra will celebrate the nation's 250th birthday with a program featuring patriotic favorites and selections by composers including John Williams, Aaron Copland, Bill Conti, Samuel Ward, Dave Robertson and John Philip Sousa.
Designed as a family-friendly event, the concert will include many familiar tunes and audience members are encouraged to sing along.
While admission is free, donations will be gratefully accepted. All proceeds from the concert will benefit the Newport Fishermen's Wives.
Saturday's concert begins at 4 pm at Newport Middle School, located at 825 NE 7th Street. For more information, go to newportsymphony.org.
