InHouse Jazz hits the home stretch
No crowded club, clinking glasses or conversation competing with the music. Just four accomplished jazz musicians, an intimate audience and a Sunday afternoon devoted to listening.
INHOUSE Jazz will close its 2026 season with award-winning Seattle vocalist Greta Matassa at a private residence in Waldport this Sunday, Sept. 20.
Hosted by vocalist Annie Averre, the concert will feature Matassa alongside guitarist Christopher Woitach, bassist Clipper Anderson and drummer Charlie Doggett.
Matassa has spent four decades performing and recording, establishing herself as one of the Pacific Northwest’s most celebrated jazz vocalists. She has been voted Northwest Jazz Vocalist of the Year nine times and inducted into the Seattle Jazz Hall of Fame.
Her career has taken her to clubs and concert venues throughout the region and given her opportunities to work with leading jazz musicians in Los Angeles, Chicago and New York.
Woitach brings an approach to jazz guitar informed by his command of a wide range of musical styles. Anderson is a composer, studio musician, vocalist and educator as well as one of the region's leading acoustic and electric bass players.
Doggett, making his first appearance on the INHOUSE Jazz roster, is a versatile drummer and percussionist and a familiar presence in Portland and the broader Northwest music scene.
The INHOUSE Jazz series is designed to strip away some of the distractions that can come with hearing jazz in restaurants and bars. Concerts are held in private homes, creating an informal setting where the audience can concentrate on the musicians and the interplay that makes live jazz unpredictable.
There is no admission charge, though donations of $15 to $30 are suggested to compensate the musicians. Any money collected beyond expenses is donated to support local arts and education.
Guests are encouraged to bring their own beverages and potluck treats.
Sunday’s concert runs from 2:30 to 5:30 pm at a private residence in Waldport. Reservations are required, with the location provided to guests who RSVP.
