Hoffman Center hosts arts trio

Manzanita’s Hoffman Center for the Arts will present its March Gallery Exhibition beginning Thursday, March 5, featuring work by Roberta Lampert, martha clarkson and Lisa Onstad.

The exhibition, which runs through March 28, showcases three distinct bodies of work exploring environment, perception and the emotional resonance of place.

Lampert’s “SALT/WATER” celebrates her practice of salt firing and her deep connection to Oregon’s coastal and freshwater environments. The influence of salt, soda and wood on artwork in a kiln is revealed only after firing and cooling, echoing the constantly shifting ways light and water shape perceptions of animals, rocks and submerged objects. Lampert’s focus on fish reflects life along coastal waterways and her enduring fascination with the mystery and motion of water.

In “Edgework,” clarkson presents a series of black-and-white photographs that reframe the familiar in quietly striking ways. Drawing on her background in interior architecture, clarkson explores the physical environment with careful attention to form, scale and light. The images encourage viewers to pause and notice often-overlooked details, inviting personal interpretation rather than explanation.

Onstad’s mixed-media series “Picnic” is inspired by travel and the heightened awareness that comes with experiencing new places. Using familiar patterns to organize moments of rich visual and emotional input, Onstad creates work that encourages viewers to treat each day as an opportunity to pause, savor and fully inhabit the present.

The Hoffman Center for the Arts is located at 594 Laneda Avenue in Manzanita and is open Thursday through Sunday from noon to 5 pm, except the last Sunday of every month. For more information, go to hoffmanarts.org.
