Head out for Home Movie Day

Have a reel good time at Lincoln City’s North Lincoln County Historical Museum during the annual Home Movie Day event this Saturday, Oct. 18.

Celebrated worldwide, Home Movie Day is a fun interactive event, where you can learn about different small gauge movie formats, get your own family movies inspected and repaired by film archivists, learn how to preserve and protect your films and get recommendations for digitization.

“The best part is watching your own family’s precious memories on the big screen,” said museum executive director Christopher Melton.

The museum will also be projecting films from its own collection, including footage of Lincoln City and other Oregon Coast locations in the 1950s and 1960s.

Films accepted include 8mm, super-8mm, and 16mm on a first come, first served basis. To guarantee a spot, drop off your films prior to the event Friday or Saturday from 11 am to 4 pm. Anyone interested in getting VHS, hi8, MiniDV or other media inspected and screened, should contact the museum as soon as possible.

Saturday’s event runs from 1 pm to 4 pm at the North Lincoln County Historical Museum, located at 4907 SW Hwy. 101 in Lincoln City. For more information, go to nlchm.org or call 541-996-6614.
