Have the stein of your life

‍Lederhosen are optional, but they certainly won’t look out of place when Beachcrest Brewing Company celebrates its eighth annual OktoberCrest this Friday, Sept. 25, through Sunday, Sept. 27.

The three-day celebration at the Salishan Marketplace in Gleneden Beach will combine specialty beer releases, German-inspired food, pub games, live music and the traditional test of strength and stamina known as stein hoisting.

Beachcrest will supplement its regular lineup of wood-fired pizzas with German-inspired offerings created for the weekend, along with special beers brewed for the celebration.

Friday’s music comes from Portland acoustic trio Dadweed, whose “newgrass” sound mixes bluegrass with folk, jazz, pop and R&B.

Saturday brings accordionist John Bringetto followed by the Lincoln Pops Big Band, while Sunday’s finale features the DTW Brass Band.

Guests are encouraged to get into the Oktoberfest spirit by breaking out their dirndls and lederhosen. The celebration is family friendly, and leashed dogs are welcome in the outdoor areas.

OktoberCrest runs from noon to 8 pm on Friday Sept. 25, through Sunday Sept. 27, at Beachcrest Brewing Company, located at 7755 Hwy. 101 in the Salishan Marketplace in Gleneden Beach. For more information, go to beachcrestbrewing.com.
