Grab your chance to see ‘La Bohéme’

Immerse yourself in Franco Zeffirelli’s lush production of “La Bohème,” beamed from the Metropolitan Opera stage in New York to the big screen at the Newport Performing Arts Center this Saturday, Nov. 15.

Giacomo Puccini’s classic opera was first presented in 1896 but remains a favorite, in part, due to its ability to reveal new treasures even after dozens of hearings. Zeffirelli’s picture-perfect production brings 19th-Century Paris to the Met stage as Puccini’s young friends and lovers navigate bohemian life. Soprano Juliana Grigoryan appears as the feeble seamstress Mimì and tenor Freddie De Tommaso plays the ardent poet Rodolfo.

The production, sung in Italian with English subtitles, runs approximately three hours, with two intermissions. Tickets range from $12 to $28.

Saturday's show begins at 10 am at the Newport Performing Arts Center, located at 777 W Olive Street. For more information, go to coastarts.com or call 541-265-2787.
