Point Break Fitness introduces summer programs

For the TODAY
On a Friday afternoon, Point Break Fitness is humming. The gym’s members move purposefully through rows of spotlessly clean, gleaming cardio and weight-training equipment. The big room is light, airy and, though uncrowded, it feels busy. The atmosphere is focused but friendly and relaxed, the kind of atmosphere that makes remaining committed to a fitness routine just a little bit easier.
Owner Tracey Taylor, who recently celebrated Point Break Fitness’s five-year anniversary at its prime Lincoln City Outlets location, is enthusiastic about marking the gym’s fifth summer season with new programs designed to appeal to both the local community and the steady stream of visitors who make a workout at Point Break part of their Oregon Coast vacations.
“As summer arrives, we want to remind both locals and visitors that Point Break Fitness is here to help everyone stay active while enjoying the Oregon Coast,” he said.
For visitors, the options are flexible and affordable. Guests can drop into any class for just $10. A Day Pass costs $12, while a Week Pass is $35. Both provide full access from 4 am to midnight, the same hours available to regular members.
Taylor says the Week Pass has become a summer staple.
“Many travelers now choose Lincoln City as their vacation destination knowing they can maintain their fitness routines while they’re here,” he said, noting that repeat visitors are increasingly common. “We take pride in providing a welcoming environment and a high-quality experience that keeps visitors coming back.”
Taylor and his staff take pride in their equipment and maintain detailed equipment logs, address repairs promptly and keep reliable sources for replacement parts on hand. The result is a gym that looks as good as it did when it first opened.
“Some people came in who had visited with us three years ago and told me everything looks as new as it did back then,” Taylor said. “We make a point of keeping everything up to top quality.”
Another priority for Taylor is safety.
“Every staff member is certified in First Aid, CPR and AED use,” he said. “We are prepared to provide a safe environment for everyone who walks through our doors,”
Point Break is now a full distributor of Earth Fed Muscle supplements. Protein powders, creatine, collagen peptides, multivitamins and even coffee creamers are available on-site, allowing members to fuel their workouts without making an extra stop.
The gym is also offering a new line of apparel designed by instructor Megan Morris, whose tie-dye sweatshirts and T-shirts have helped expand a line of branded gear that has already become popular.
The variety of classes offered at Point Break reflects the commitment to inclusivity found throughout the facility.
Senior Fitness classes with Sarah Rothschild are offered Tuesdays and Thursdays, while Weight Training with Rothschild takes place on Mondays. Members can choose from a lively dance class, two yoga offerings and two popular barre classes. Due to growing demand, Taylor has added another senior fitness class this season.
Seniors might find their gym membership is covered by their insurance. Point Break serves Silver Sneakers members and, according to Taylor, has expanded its insurance policy to include participants in other insurance-based fitness programs.
“This gym is designed to take care of our community,” he said. He believes Point Break is the only gym in the area that accepts all major fitness insurance plans. Seniors whose coverage includes Silver&Fit, Active & Renew, SilverSneakers or Open Path can use those benefits toward Point Break memberships.
At the other end of the age spectrum, Point Break offers a College Summer Membership for students returning home for the summer: three months of unlimited access for $120.
And for children, instructor Joanne Vatore leads karate classes on Tuesdays and Fridays, helping youngsters build confidence, discipline and fitness in equal measure.
New members also receive a complimentary fitness assessment.
“We sit with you and evaluate your history, your injuries and where you are in terms of fitness,” Taylor said. “We take your work and life schedules and your goals into account. Then we work with you to map out a game plan.”
In a further outreach to the community, Point Break hosts a free Runners Club every Saturday at 8 am. No membership is required, and there are no pace expectations. Strollers, casual joggers and more serious runners all share the road. In a typical weekend, roughly 20 people participate.
The classes, the community runs, the supplements and the tie-dye T-shirts all reflect a mission Taylor has held since day one: creating a place where every person feels at home, regardless of age, ability or ZIP code.
“The best thing about Point Break is that we have everything you need to keep you healthy,” he said. “Our programs are flexible, our location is accessible and we use all of our resources and expertise to figure out the best plan for you.”
