Broadway in Newport

The Newport Performing Arts Center will be filled with show tunes, fund-raising and Broadway favorites when Coastal Voices presents its annual gala this Saturday, July 18.

Titled "Broadway Magic! Gala: Do You Hear the People Sing?," the black-tie-optional evening will feature music from beloved musicals including "Hamilton," "1776," "West Side Story" and "Les Misérables." The event serves as a fund-raiser for the community chorus while showcasing the talents of several local performers.

The evening begins with a reception featuring appetizers, beverages, raffle drawings and a silent auction before the musical performance takes the stage. Auction and raffle items include an American flag quilt created by Kathleen Ritzman, a Gearhart golf package, a coffee lover's basket from Elk City Coffee, a Salishan Resort getaway and a wheelbarrow filled with wine, whiskey and other surprises.

Performers include Jason Holland, McKenna Hoover, Gidget Manucci and Marc Montminy, with Jennifer VanBruggen Hamilton serving as narrator and Marie Read accompanying on piano.

The gala supports Coastal Voices' ongoing mission of bringing choral music to the Central Oregon Coast.

Saturday's gala begins with a reception at 5 pm, followed by the performance at 6:30 pm at the Newport Performing Arts Center, located at 777 W. Olive Street in Newport. VIP tickets are $75 and include the reception, appetizers and beverages. SuperStar tickets are $100 and include bonus raffle tickets and recognition as a song sponsor.
