Author offers tips on loss
Join local author Alexandra Mason for the fourth talk in the Pro-tips series at Café Chill in Waldport this Saturday, Sept. 20.
As so many of us near the age when we are surrounded by the hard-hitting reality of human mortality, we might face the death of our life partner, some of us after serving as caregiver during a slow decline. And this can be a painful and difficult time. How do we face our loss and deal with our grief, which may seem overwhelming?
In her book of poems, “Lost and Found” Mason works through loss with the power of writing poetry. She will discuss how using the forms offered by poetry and the illuminating force of poetic figures of speech in simile and metaphor, led her to a renewed embracing of life and opening again to the joys of love.
Audience members who have a poem about their own grief are invited to share their work at the conclusion of the talk.
Saturday’s talk starts at 2 pm at Café Chill, located at 540 NE Commercial Street in Waldport. For more information, call 541-819-5041.
