Artists share two-point perspective
Explore two artistic perspectives on the Oregon Coast when painters Jill Perry Townsend and Katia Kyte present “Shared Horizons,” a plein air exhibition at Connie Hanson Garden in Lincoln City, opening this Saturday, March 14.
Friends for years and frequent painting partners, Townsend and Kyte began working together regularly in the early days of the pandemic. In the seasons since, they have returned to the same stretches of coastline, setting up their easels side by side while responding to shifting light, wind, fog and tide.
Though they paint from the same vantage points, the resulting canvases reveal distinct interpretations of the landscape.
Painted on location in Lincoln City and nearby beaches, the works capture fleeting coastal moments: golden cliffs at sunset, misty mornings, tidal reflections and the rugged beauty of places including Fishing Rock. Each painting reflects both the natural setting and the shared experience of painting within it.
Saturday's opening reception begins at 5 pm at Connie Hanson Garden, located at 1931 NW 33rd Street in Lincoln City. For more information, go to conniehansengarden.com.
