A turtley awesome presentation

Even if they are not ninjas, Koopas or Pokemon, turtles are pretty cool.

Learn more about them from Susan Barnes, regional wildlife conservation biologist with the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife, at Newport’s Pacific Maritime Heritage Center on Thursday, Oct. 2.

Presented by Midcoast Watersheds Council, the talk will cover basic turtle ecology, why they are in trouble and current turtle conservation projects.

Guests will learn how to look for and identify turtle species and get the chance to meet live, turtles that cannot be released back into the wild.

The talk begins at 6:30 pm at the Pacific Maritime Heritage Center, located at 333 SE Bay Blvd. in Newport. For more information, go to midcoastwatersheds.org.
