A patently useful presentation
It’s back to school time, and Newport Public Library is ready to help students fill their backpacks with printed resources, and adults continue in the school of life at the next installation of the Learn the Library series.
At the Back-to-School Book Sale, running Friday, Aug. 29, through Tuesday, Sept. 2, readers of all ages can fill a provided brown bag with gently used books for just $3.
Stock up on great reads and help raise funds for The Newport Public Library Foundation.
Perfect for students, families, teachers and book lovers of all kinds, the sale is a wonderful opportunity to build a home library.
“Every book purchased during the sale helps support library programs and services that benefit our entire community,” said Laura Kimberly, Newport Public Library and city community engagement director for the City of Newport. “It’s an affordable and fun way to get ready for the school year.”
On Wednesday, Sept. 3, Newport Public Library’s “Learn the Library” program will share resources for the business community featuring David Irvin, director of the Guin Library at Hatfield Marine Science Center. Irvin will discuss resources related to patent and trademark searches, providing a brief description of intellectual property, tips and tricks for initial patent and trademark searches and an overview of the Patent and Trademark Resource Center program, which OSU Libraries joined in November 2024. He will conclude with links to online resources and pathways for inventors and entrepreneurs to get in touch with his team for more assistance.
“Learn the Library” runs from noon to 1 pm in the McEntee Meeting Room of Newport Public Library, located at 35 NW Nye Street. For more information, go to newportoregon.gov or call 541-265-2153.
