We triple-dog-dare you to miss this show
'A Christmas Story' wraps up its run with shows in Lincoln City
You can dress up, buy your tickets and sit like a good boy. But, when you see the stage adaptation of Jean Shepherd’s “A Christmas Story,” can you physically restrain yourself from yelling out your favorite lines from the 1983 film? “You’ll shoot your eye out, kid!” “Fra-gee-lay! That must be Italian!” “I triple dog dare ya!” But, unless you are a connoisseur of soap, you’ll have to keep the real swearing to yourself. Opening Nov. 27, the Porthole Players production of the classic comedy will feature several young actors in the main roles. Beckett Savage will play Ralphie, with Justin Meister as his little brother Randy. Leo Johns plays Schwarz, Stuart Follett is Flick and Cameron Locklear is the mean Scut Farkas. Morgan Annable, Paige Schindler, Cassie Lihou, Mia Estabrook, and Ronan and Niko Krutzikowsky round out the youthful cast as classmates, friends, and townspeople. There are plenty of grownups around to make Ralphie’s life difficult, of course. Nikki Atkins plays his mother, while Justin Atkins is taking a start turn as “the Old Man.” Devonee Trivett is the imposing Miss Shields, who just won’t give Ralphie the grade he is looking for. Steve Travis will be a constant presence as the grownup Ralph, the narrator of this holiday tale. Tickets are on sale for this family comedy, which plays at 7 p.m. Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 19 and 20, at the Lincoln City Cultural Center. For tickets and information, call 541-265-2787. You can purchase tickets at the PAC, at Chuck’s Video in Waldport, and at Shirley’s, Raindogs and Toad Hall in Yachats. For information on the Lincoln City shows, call the LCCC at 541-994-9994.

| This scene? Not so funny, after this past week's cold weather. Ugh! |
