Giving veggies the stamp of approval

Published on June 12, 2018 2:48PM

A new Food Hero Passport Program at the Tillamook Farmers Market is challenging kids to spend the summer experiencing fruits and vegetables in new ways.

The six-week program includes fun activities like scavenger hunts, mystery veggie identification and more.

Each week kids participate they will receive a free $2 voucher to spend at the market on fruits and vegetables of their choice. Kids will sign up for a passport the first week they attend the market and have it stamped every week they attend. Kids who participate for four weeks or more will receive a special prize.

Food tastings and kids’ activities are from 10 am to noon for the first six markets of the season — Saturdays, June 16, 23 and 30 and July 7, 14 and 21.

The program is open to kids aged three and older, but participants under nine years old must be accompanied by a responsible adult.
