Here at the Oregon Coast TODAY, we have a category for events we call “potpourri.” What better word to describe the event happening at the Newport Performing Arts Center (PAC) on Saturday, Sept. 15, featuring bits of past performances you might have missed as well as those you loved and want to see again.
A celebration of 30 years of the PAC, the event will include contributions from the Central Coast Chorale, Coastal Act Productions, the International Film Series, Lincoln County Oregon Music Teachers Association, New Visions Arts, the Newport Symphony Orchestra, Oregon Coastal-Aires, Pacific Dance Ensemble, Porthole Players, Red Octopus and TJ Hoofers.
This one-night fundraising extravaganza will raise funds for the “Entertain the Future!” capital campaign to expand and enhance the PAC.
Directed by Sara Coxen and Ron Miller, the retrospective also features video clips of the ground breaking ceremony for the PAC along with vintage posters and pictures from prior shows, special events and photographs of those who were instrumental in creating this wonderful asset. “The PAC opened its doors 30 years ago on September 17, 1988,” said Oregon Coast Council for the Arts Executive Director Catherine Rickbone. “And it all began with a group of visionaries, support from the public and performing groups, the Oregon Coast Council for the Arts, as well as a partnership with the City of Newport.”
The show will start at 7:30 pm at 777 NW Olive Street. Tickets are $30 plus booking fees.
Tickets for a dinner-and-show package are $100 apiece, with dinner starting at 5:30 pm at the PAC.
