The Manzanita Writers’ Series will celebrate 10 years of promoting the North Coast literary scene with a party on Saturday, Nov. 17, at the Hoffman Center for the Arts.
The evening will recognize all the local writers, and those with a strong connection to the Oregon Coast, who have been published since the series began in 2008.
Writers will share their favorite memories about the impact of the Writers Series and spin-off writing opportunities like writing workshops, online courses, the writing lounge and the Squid literary magazine.
Local writer Carl Whiting said he will never forget the feeling of seeing his work published in the sixth edition of the Squid.
“It’s not a small thing to see your name in the table of contents of a publication,” he said.
Writers are invited to submit 900 words on their fondest Writers’ Series memories to email@example.com. Nine pieces will be selected for the evening’s reading and all will be published on the Hoffman Center’s web site.
The evening will include a slide show with images from 10 years of Writers’ Series events.
And there will be cake, of course.
Cloud & Leaf bookstore will be on hand to sell published books, and authors are welcome to sell their own books that they have published in the past 10 years.
The party will start at 7 pm at the Hoffman Center for the Arts, 594 Laneda Avenue.
