Registration is now open for the inaugural Pelican Brewing Salmon Run, set to take place in Tillamook on Saturday, Sept. 23, offering 5- and 10-kilometer routes.
The timed race will start and finish at Pelican Brewery & Tap Room, with runners setting out at 10 am and following a scenic race course through town, followed by a post-race bash at the brewery featuring tours, live music and more.
A portion of the proceeds from every race registration will go directly to the Salmon SuperHwy project, which aims to restore access to almost 180 miles of blocked habitat throughout six major salmon and steelhead rivers of Oregon’s North Coast.
“Pelican Brewing is proud to support the Salmon SuperHwy Project and since becoming aware of the project last year, we have been looking for more ways to increase awareness and raise funds”, says Jim Prinzing, CEO Pelican Brewing. “We started that effort by creating Five Fin West Coast Pilsner, a beer we designed specifically for the SSH, and now we are really excited to host the Pelican Salmon Run to raise money and educate more folks about the need.”
Everyone who registers for the race receives an official race shirt and an official race pint glass. Runners aged 21 or older will receive a pint of Five Fin West Coast Pilsner while those under 21 will be treated to a pint of Pelican Brewing Root Beer.
Registration for the 5k is $40 through August 31 and $45 through September 21. Registration for the 10k is $45 through August 31, and $50 through September 21. The race also offers free entry for children aged five and younger, with no drinks or t-shirt included.
