Lincoln City will be the scene of a comedy double-header this Friday, Nov. 9, when Amanda Arnold and Murray Valeriano come to town.
Valeriano has toured the country performing in clubs and theaters, either headlining or opening for some of comedy’s heavy hitters including David Spade, Kevin Pollack, Christopher Titus and Brad Garret.
As an award-winning writer, Valeriano has written for the “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon,” “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno” and “Ridiculousness” to name a few. He has also written for other comedians such as Conan O’Brian, Steve Carell and Dennis Miller.
Valeriano’s wealth of pop culture knowledge shines through on his popular “Roadstories” podcast, which USA TODAY called “one of the funniest podcasts of 2013.”
Some people are just born funny, a fact that is proved by the fact that Amanda Arnold began her standup comedy career at the age of eight in a school talent contest.
Her fast-paced, honest and common-sense style earned her a bi-monthly show at Portland’s Helium Comedy Club, where she has worked with comics such as Bert Kreischer, Nikki Glaser and Jay Pharoah to name a few. She was named one of the “Top 5 Funniest Comics” in Portland by Willamette Week and is a two-time winner of the PDX Dirty Dozen Roast Battle.
Earlier this year, Arnold produced the Undertow Comedy Festival in Lincoln City, featuring comics such as Ron Funches, Jeff Dye and Judah Friedlander.
She produces a regular podcast “The Standup Diet,” where she talks to famous and almost-famous comics about two things everyone loves — food and comedy.
Friday’s event will start at 8 pm at the Beach Club & Events Center, 2020 NE 22nd Street. Tickets, $10, are available at the door or in advance at Eventbrite.com.
