Secrets ana-lyze, in Lincoln City

Published on March 6, 2018 12:06PM

Saucy scribblings and madcap misuderstandings will collide on stage this weekend as Lincoln City’s Theatre West presents “Meanwhile, Back on the Couch,” a fast-paced comedy by Jack Sharkey.

Psychiatrist Victor Karleen is financially pressed between the rental of his posh office apartment and his fiancée’s expensive tastes. Needing cash, Victor reluctantly takes on a new patient who, due to romantic frustration, is grinding out a rip-roaring sex novel. By mistake, his nurse gives the patient’s manuscript to a literary agent believing it to be Victor’s work. Suddenly Victor has an enormous advance royalty check, a Book of the Month Club selection and a potential Pulitzer Prize. When he discovers that it is his patient’s confidences and not his clinical casebook that has saved the day, Victor determines to keep his patient crazy until he dreams up the final chapter.

Directed by Rich Emery, the play stars Tricia Chandler as Gaby, Steve Griffiths as Roy, Don Bambrough as Victor, Bryan Kirsch as Parker, Ren Jacob as Albert, Alice Luchau as Dorothea and Brianna Smith as Jingle. Patti Siberz and Cathye Wehr share the role of Charlotte.

Alice Luchau also serves as assistant director, with Andrew Schmitz as stage manager and Kate Daschel on lights and sound.

The play opens on Thursday, March 8, and runs through Saturday, March 31, with performances at 7:30 pm every Thursday, Friday and Saturday and a 2 pm matinée on Sunday, March 25.

Tickets, $15 for adults, $13 for seniors and students, and $10 for children 12 and under, are available by calling 541-994-5663. Please leave a message and someone will call you back.

On regular performance days, the box office is open at 4 pm.
