The Sitka Center for Art and Ecology will hold a free ecology workshop this Saturday, Dec. 1, showing how the Biosphere Reserve at Cascade Head can help explore the relationship between people and nature.
Led by Bruce Byers, Sitka’s current Howard L McKee Ecology Resident, the workshop will show how Cascade Head fits in to an international network of 686 biosphere reserves in the United Nations’ Man and the Biosphere Program.
Byers will also present some ideas about the relationship of ecology and art. Participants will engage in discussion and contribute their ideas about how to support and strengthen both the Biosphere Reserve and role of the community.
The free workshop is open to people aged 15 and older and runs from 10 am to 1 pm. Registration is required; go to www.sitkacenter.org.
