Lincoln City artist Joanne Daschel has unveiled a range of winter mosaic workshops, including one that offers visitors the chance to piece together the perfect vacation through an Airbnb Experience.
“I’ve been a lodging host for the past two summers and thought this was a great new tool they are offering to complement lodging,” she said, “especially with all the outdoor and cultural experiences on the coast.”
Daschel’s Airbnb Experience, titled “Create A Glass Mosaic Suncatcher,” runs from 1 to 4 pm on Sunday, Dec. 2, offering participants the chance to explore transparent and opaque glass, design basics and learn how to safely cut glass. The workshop costs $60, which includes materials, use of tools, coffee or tea and a light snack as well as grouting and mailing of the finished piece. Pre-registration is required via Airbnb Experiences or Daschel’s website, joannedaschel.com.
Daschel’s website also offers the chance to sign up for other mosaic experiences, including “Create A Glass Mosaic Nightlight,” which runs from 10 am to noon on Saturday, Dec. 8, and again on Saturday, Dec. 15. Students in this short workshop will learn to safely cut glass to create a stained glass nightlight. The $30 fee includes materials, use of tools, coffee or tea and a light snack. Shipping is available for $5 extra.
Meanwhile, mosaic mentoring is on offer through Daschel’s “Mosaic Mondays,” designed for students with previous mosaic experience. From 1 to 4 pm on Dec. 3, 10 and 17, Daschel will offer budding mosaicists use of her studio and tools as well as personalized guidance for $15 per session.
The Mosaic Classes Studio is located in the basement of the Lincoln City Cultural Center, 540 NE Hwy. 101.
The studio is also available for private mosaic workshops for four to 10 people
